German Chocolate Cake Frosting
Makes 2 1/2 cups. Consider making 1 1/2 batches to ensure you have enough frosting.
Ingredients
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups coconut
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions
- Combine all but coconut and nuts.
- Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened (about 12 min).
- Add coconut and nuts.
- Cool until think enough to spread.
