Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup soft butter (1 stick)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Combine cocoa and boiling water, mix well and cool.
  2. Sift dry ingredients - set aside.
  3. Beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy (5 min).
  4. Blend in at low speed dry ingredients, cocoa mix and buttermilk.
  5. Grease and flour baking dish (or dishes).
  6. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
